Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital, Prasanthi Nilayam, Bhagawan's first hospital established in year 1956, is an example of selfless service to the humanity. On the occasion of its 61st Anniversary, the Doctors, Nurses and other Staff of the hospital presented an audio-visual programme in the Sai Kulwant hall, this evening.
Dr Vinod K Varma, AVM (Retd) and Medical Superintendent of Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital, gave the opening remarks and presented the hospital’s salient achievements during the year. While mentioning about the technical advancements at the hospital, Dr Varma also stressed on the importance given to the holistic care wherein the hospital started yoga clinics and expanded the Diabetic clinic activities. “Love and compassion makes it real Medicare”, he said.
His talk was followed by an audio-visual programme by the staff members of the GH. The hallmark of the programme was the sharing of experiences by senior doctors and nurses, who have been serving at the hospital for over a decade under the direct guidance of Bhagawan. Their personal experiences at the GH and the valuable advice given to them by Bhagawan Himself filled the audience with devotional fervor and energy to serve in the Divine Mission. The talks were interspersed with melodious rendering of devotional songs by the doctors and paramedical staff of the hospital.
The programme aptly concluded with Bhagawan’s Divine Discourse aired through the Public Address System. Bhagawan said that good health is the wealthiest possession of any human being. However, the prime purpose of good health is to pursue the spiritual goal (Aathmanandam). He mentioned that HE established this hospital in a rural setup, since villagers have almost no access to good health facilities. He extolled the selfless services rendered by the doctors of the hospital and said that such service also leads to their own spiritual advancement.
Bhajans followed next and with the Mangala Arati, days session came to a close at 1850 Hrs.
