October 02 , 2013

The students of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning  and associated establishments at Prashantinilayam will begin Grama Seva 2013 on the 5th October 2013. About 150 villages in Puttaparthi, Kothacheruvu, and Bukkapatnam ,three mandals of Anantapur, will be covered over the next nine days.

More than 2000 students from the four campuses of the Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning-namely Prashantinilayam,Brindavan,Anantapur and Muddenahalli along with students of the Higher Secondary School will participate in this 10 day event.Totally 50000 households will be given food and clothing during this period.

Baba has often said that knowledge that is not put into action is not only useless but positively dangerous.Grama Seva is the signature annual event that exemplifies this statement.

Several positive changes have been observed since the inception of the Grama Seva Project in 2000.There has been marked improvement in the environment as the villagers appear to have become  more caring. There have been notable improvements in the overall hygiene. The number of uncared-for elderly villagers also appears to have reduced significantly,as the younger generations of villagers are becoming more aware of their responsibilities. These are only a few of the many positive changes that have been observed since the inception of Grama Seva.Countless villagers have expressed their gratitude for the care they receive through this project. The Grama Seva Project is therefore a symbol of the unique aim of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, which is development of character.

Following villages in the Kothacheruvu mandal will be covered on the first day
