Soulful Krishna devotionals added to the serene ambience this morning, as the Advent of Bhagawan Krishna, Sri Krishna Janmashtami, was celebrated with much devotional fervor here, in Prasanthi Nilayam today. With the musical offering on, the Gokulam Procession of quadrupeds and birds entered the Sai Kulwant precincts, received and worshipped by a host of Ashram seniors.
The programme commenced at 0820 hrs with the percussion band of the Institute playing some melodic Instrumental tunes. A stream of devotionals followed next that included Bhaja Govindam, Vinathi Karoo Mein, Swaravaram…,Challagaalilo Yamuna Thatipai… to name a few.
Even as the music flowed on, the colorful Gokulam Procession arrived at the Sanctum Sanctorum, escorted by the Nadaswaram and Vedam troupes from the Institute. The quadrupeds included Cows and Calves, Deers, Rabbits, Peacocks, Doves and the Canine ‘Jolly’ from Senior Boys’ Hostel. The Cows covered with newly made embroidered, multi‑colored silk dhuppattas, were led by batches of students. Trustees and Ashram seniors joined in, feeding the ‘Guests’, a tradition Bhagawan ‘Himself’ used to ‘follow’ in person, on every Krishnashtami occasion. Truly, it was a nostalgic moment, reminiscent of the golden days of Bhagawan - physically entertaining His four-legged and winged folks, airing the message of love and compassion to the human folks.
Celebrating the ecstatic occasion, subsequently, the Higher Secondary Students burst into a short spell of dancing, to a tuneful devotional “Sree Krishnaya Govindaya Gopijana Vallabhaya…”. Seeking exclusive blessings the special ‘guests’ for the morning subsequently, filed past the Sanctum Sanctorum in batches.
Bhagawan’s Divine discourse with ‘loadful’ of ‘recollections’, from the Dwapara time followed next. The session went on with Krishna bhajans, ending with Mangala Arathi at 1010 hrs.
