The devotees from Kerala, "Gods own Country", commenced the three-day Onam Celebrations here at Prasanthi Nilayam.
The evening program commenced at 1700 hrs. with an introductory speech by Dr Ananda Mohan, State Coordinator of Sri Sathya Sai Rehabilitation Programme for the post operative cardiac patients.
The first speaker was Sri K. Jayakumar, IAS (Retd.), former Chief Secretary of Govt of Kerala and currently serving as the Vice Chancellor of Malayalam University. He narrated the legend of Onam as a festival of love, as taught by Baba. God in his infinite love for the emperor Mahabali, sent him to the Nether world, Patala, subduing his ego. The erudite speaker went on to add that there is a Mahabali in every one of us and Onam comes as a salient reminder to correct ourselves.
The second speaker was Sri Mohammed Ali, a religious teacher from Malappuram district, Kerala, also a beneficiary at the Whitefield Super Specialty Hospital. Speaking in vernacular Malayalam, the speaker narrated his journey to Prasanthi Nilayam. Based on his experience in the hospital, the speaker hailed Baba's Love as the prime source and force driving such mammoth free Medicare services.
A Carnatic concert by Sri Muralidharan Unni and Sri Ramesh Sadashiva followed next. At the end of the presentation the artistes were felicitated and Prasadam was distributed.
