The two- day conference on “Fundamentals of Echocardiography” concluded today at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences (SSSIHMS), Prasanthigram.
The morning session began by a talk by the Director of SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, Dr. Choudary Voleti and felicitation of the faculty members by Dr. Voleti, followed by sessions that included, ‘Aortic Valve Disease – Hands on Training’, Case Based Review of Cardiac Ailments’ and a ‘Quiz’ among others.
All the people who attended the conference expressed their delight for being a part of a rich academic experience. Faculty member, Dr. Sanjay Gupta from Lucknow, said that the concept of hands-on training was extremely beneficial for the delegates as it helped to enhance their skill a great deal. Commenting upon the idea of Baba’s provision of high quality healthcare completely free of charge, he mentioned that while many people talked about it, Bhagawan Baba had translated His words into reality by establishing hospitals which provided highly advanced treatment completely free of charge. “I have no words to explain how I feel having visited this lovely hospital,” Dr. Gupta said. Faculty member Dr. V. Amuthan, from Madurai, an expert in echocardiography, while appreciating the well-organised workshop and the hands-on training sessions, added that he would definitely like to be a part of a similar conference at SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram in future.
The delegates who attended the conference echoed a similar sentiment. Dr. Leelavathi, from Bangalore, mentioned that while she had been to many conferences, she felt that this conference was unique as it was an academic feast in a spiritual retreat. “It was an excellent experience. The conference was rich academically and the environment was calm and holy, it was a perfect mix,” she said. “I would definitely like to come back, “she added.
Another delegate Dr. Pavan Kumar from Warangal mentioned that he felt at home from the beginning because of perfect organization and the unbeatable hospitality of all the staff members. “ Outside when you go for conferences, you don’t find this spiritual atmosphere and such hospitable people, you don’t feel at home. But here the feeling is just like home, this helped me to soak in this academic experience,” he said.
All the delegates and faculty members, most of whom were first time visitors to Puttaparthi, were awed by Bhagawan Baba’s concept of free healthcare and education. Dr. Aniko Nagy, a faculty from Hungary, summed it up when she said, that Bhagawan Baba’s healthcare institutions stand as perfect models of healthcare. “This is exactly how healthcare profession should be practiced across the world,” she said.
