Today, being Durga Ashtami, 8th day of the Devi Navarathri celebrations, Ayudha Puja, worshipping of the implements was conducted at the Sai Kulwant Hall in Prasanthi Nilayam. In a special function held at 0830 hrs. ‘Sai Vahan’, vehicles that had been blessed by Bhagawan’s Divine Touch, including the Golden Chariot were worshipped, attended a senior Ashram officials, students and staff members along with general devotees. With the background resonance of Vedic chanting followed by bhajans, Senior Trust officials and Secretary of SSSCT, joined by other senior devotees, worshiped each vehicle, breaking coconuts at each one of them. The special function concluded with Mangala Arathi.
Ayudha Pooja is traditionally done on the 8th day of the Navaratri Festival in Prasanthi Nilayam. Customarily, implements used for livelihood are worshiped on this day, a symbolic affair reminding man of Supreme Divine grace. In Prasanthi, it has been customary to worship the vehicles used by Bhagawan during the occasion, a custom set by Bhagawan Himself decades ago.
