As part of 4th Annual Convention of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini Schools, 5 schools from the State of Tamil Nadu presented a drama “Sarva Gnanam Mayi Vidyate”. Based on the theme, true education is one centered on values and not on materialistic ideologies, the drama beautifully brought out this concept. Beginning with a lively, energetic and vibrant folk dance, the drama brought out the real paradigm shift in the field of education. Teaching field can be revolutionized with the evolution of digital age. Students can study right from their homes; they need go the classrooms to study. The students should be inspired with the lives of great saints and personalities. A father tells his wife that his software is appreciated by the World Education Council. Suddenly they see their son coming amidst them hiding something. To their surprise, the son has stolen the purse. The father and mother are worried. Ram, a person who wants to spearhead value-based education. Fusion of knowledge with values. Tech teaching with inculcation of morals with modern tools like animation and videos. The son Praveen, who stole the purse is transformed with value-based education of Ram. Praveen asks forgiveness of his father. At this juncture, an Adi Sankara episode is introduced to bring out the point how implicit obedience to Guru can transform a dull-headed person like Giri to the great saint Totakacharya.
A value-based education student’s life begins with prayer, followed by some physical exercises, then studies, and in the evening games and ends with community prayer. This helps a student to hone his body well – a perfect balance of spirituality, studies and games. The body, mind and soul is nourished in this manner. An episode where a person involved in accident is helped by strangers, taken to hospital and his life is saved. Educare coupled with education is to be imparted to students, is the clarion call of this drama. Bhagawan’s Discourse on values is played on the PA system. The drama ends with all the cast of the drama converging with the song “Sathyam Vada Dharmam Chara Jivan Ka Adhar”.
