The event is a culmination of month-long preparations by over 2000 students of the Sri Sathya Sai Primary and Higher Secondary Schools, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, and its allied institutions of various creative performances, ranging from a lion dance to motorbike stunts, from human formations to dance drills. Other performances included martial arts, gymnastics, bunny drills, Chinese fan dance, and a number of colourful and coordinated cultural performances.
The unique aspect of the event was the display of courage, skill and temperament exhibited by students ranging from ages five to twenty-five.
In the words of Sri Sathya Sai Baba—the Founder of the Sai educational institutions—the three unique benefits to be derived from sports and games are team spirit, mutual understanding and joy. Sports, He said, cuts through the barriers of habits and cultures and easily helps develop a common bond in the spirit of camaraderie.
The Annual Sports and Cultural Meet 2015 by the Sri Sathya Sai educational institutions was a reflection of this vision in action.
