After yesterday's spectacular Sports & Cultural Meet at the Sri Sathya Sai Vidyagiri Stadium, this evening, students of Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School presented a drama entitled "Swargadapi Gariyasi" here, in Prasanthi Nilayam.
The presentation showcased two college-mates from India, Ashutosh and Vishwas, with contrasting backdrops, pursuing higher education in the prestigious Stanford University in the United States. At the end of the two-year education that they completed with flying colours, a principled Vishwas returned to India only to excel as an ideal Indian, winning accolades, whereas Ashutosh decided to pursue the western materialistic ambitions that finally deprived him of mental peace. A chance meeting after five years at the same campus brings a twist in Ashutosh's life, thanks to Vishwas, who pulled him back to India and to the physical presence of his ailing mother, in the name of Love for Mother and Motherland.
Finally, at the end of a torrid ordeal, seeing his mother in a hopeless condition, Ashutosh wins his DehaMata, DeshaMata, DaivaMata, that is SaiMata... for a happy finale, winning his ways back to a ideal 'principled' Indian.
The presentation with a couple of anecdotes from the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, with interesting dance interludes was based on Bhagawan's oft-repeated maxim, Janani Janmabhoomischa Swargadapi Gariyasi, a Sanskrit sloka from the Divine Lip of Lord Sri Ramachandra meaning, Mother and Motherland are greater than heavens.
Bhajans next ended with Mangala Arathi at 1835 hrs.
