Summer Course on Indian Culture and Spirituality for the Students of SSSIHL - Day 1

Summer Course on Indian Culture and Spirituality for the students of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning commenced this morning at the Poornachandra Auditorium here in Prasanthi Nilayam.

On the sidelines of the three-day event a special session was held at the Sai Kulwant Hall this evening marked with speeches by students from different campuses.

The session commenced at 1720 hrs with invocatory Vedic chanting by students.

Calling Summer Course a Divine Alarm at the beginning of the academic year, introducing the session, Sri Sai Vinod, faculty member from Muddenahalli campus, then briefed on the significance of Summer Course from Bhagawan’s perspective. Sri Sai Vinod then introduced the twin speakers for the session. The speakers were Sarvashri Seemesh Bhaskar and V SaiRam from Brindavan and Prasanthi Nilayam campuses respectively.

Sri Seemesh Bhaskar (III BSc (Hons. - Chemistry) delved on the subject “By Sacrifice alone can one attain Immortality”.  Elaborating on the theme with the aid of stories from Bhagawan, stories from ancient Indian scriptures, the young talented speaker highlighted on the need to sacrifice one’s ego, sacrificing the bad within. Illiteracy is not the inability to read and write, but uncultured behavior, voiced Seemesh calling the Summer Course at Swami’s Institute as the right essential foundation for the budding students. Self-centeredness is the killer and Sacrifice is the pillar - of humanity, said the speaker ending on a high note.

“How does one remain in tune with Atma Dharma?” - Posed Sri V SaiRam of M.Tech, I year deliberating on the subject “The Dilemma of Greater Good, Insights From Current Epics”.  Bringing in beautiful anecdotes from the epic Mahabharata, Sri SaiRam explained the essence of Atma Dharma in detail, mixing his theme with practical analogies.

Bhajans continued and the session concluded with Mangala Arathi at 1820 hrs.
