In the morning of 14th January prizes were distributed to the participants of the Sports and Cultural meet.
In the evening the students of Prasanthi Nilayam Campus staged a drama, “Sankara Digvijayam” in Sai Kulwant Hall.on the life of Adi Sankara, the greatest proponent of Advaita .. This play was performed 25 years ago in Baba's Presence in Mumbai and Bengaluru when it was directed by Baba Himself..
The play opens with Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara meet and talk on the dilemma that man Man is interested in the Grantha (text) and not in the Gandha (essence). As the drama traverses through the life of Adi Sankara, many thought-provoking scenes from the great seer’s life and philosophy were highlighted. To name a few: Sankara encountering an untouchable and how he is enlightened by the wisdom of the seemingly unlettered. But at the end, it dawns that the untouchable was none other than Lord Siva who had come in a guise to test Sankara. The scene of Adi Sankara keeping up his promise to visit his mother in her last moments was poignantly portrayed. He finally undertakes his Digvijayam, a tour of conquest where he propagates his Advaita philosophy from South India to Kashmir to Nepal debating and defeating Hindu, Buddhist and other scholars along the way. Ultimately, he ascends the Sarvajna Pitha debating and defeating scholars in various scholastic disciplines like Mimamsa, Vedanta and other branches of Hindu philosophy.
