INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AT SSSIHMS CONCLUDES
The International Conference on Cardio Vascular Diseases continued on the second day at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram. The second day of the conference started with the presentation by Dr. P.K. Das, Head of Department, Cardiology, SSSIHMS, Whitefield, on the topic of transcatheter closure of holes in the heart as against the closure by surgery. The second presentation of the day was by Dr. Neelam Desai, Head of Department of Cardiac Surgery, SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, on the topic of incidence of congenital heart defects in adults. Dr. Desai discussed a gamut of cases in the hospital where adults had visited the hospital with congenital defects.
The first session was followed by a panel discussion on Preventive Aspect of Cardiac Care, where experts discussed how the proper treatment of rheumatic fever helps in preventing the heart disease in later years for an individual. This was followed by a session about preventing infection after a cardiac surgery.
The conference ended with a symposium on the newer vistas in the field of cardiac care where topics ranged from biochemical markers in cardiac surgery to genetics in cardiac surgery.
The conference witnessed attendance of renowned cardiac surgeons from across the India and abroad who shared their ideas and experiences at the forum.The faculty as well as the delegates while lauding the richness of the content expressed pleasure on being able to interact with the experts in the field of cardiac surgery.
