Programs by Parthi Yathra Group of Odisha Day – 1

Pt Debendra Narayan Satpathy, a renowned Hindustani vocalist from the Gwalior Gharana offered a classical musical rendition entitled ‘Bhakti Pushpanjali’ at Bhagawan’s Lotus Feet this evening at Prasanthi Nilayam. This melodious symphony was organised on the sidelines of a two-day Parthi Yatra by the devotees from the State of Odisha. Over 1200 devotees joined in this year’s Yatra.

 

The concert opened with a traditional “Vakratunda Maha Raja Ganapathi...”, invoking Lord Ganesha's blessings. Setting the evening to musical-devotional raptures, the accomplished artist then came up with a unique compilation of Hindustani Khayals and Bhajans, set in five different evening moods, ragas and talas. The numbers included Gare Madhura Hari Nama…, Hara Hara Hara Jaya Maheshwara, Viharati Brahmanandini…, Hara Hara Mahadeva Maheshwara… and Hari Bhajana Bina Sukha Shanti Nahin…. 

 

The Pandit was a perfect picture of devotion unbounded, and the evening assembly sat in rapt attention, immersing in bliss unlimited. He was accompanied by a host of artistes from Utkal University , Bhubaneshwar, namely, Smt Mamata Satpathy and Smt Avantika Satpathy on Tanpura and vocal support , Pt Ranganidhi Pradhan on Tabla, Parasuram Das on Flute, Akash Ranjal Biswal on Harmonium and Jyoti Prakash Saha on Violin.

 

Bhajans by the Sai Symphony Group of Odisha continued next and the session ended with Mangala Arathi at 1825 hrs.

 

Earlier, the musical offering was preceded by a talk by the State President of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, enumerating the activities in the State.
