First evening of the 91st birthday celebrations of Bhagawan featured a Carnatic Classical Instrumental offering by Sri GD Phani Kumar, an accomplished Flautist who played along with Sri DVK Vasudevan, an upcoming Violinist. Hailing from Hyderabad, Sri Phani Kumar had an early exposure to the Indian Carnatic Music at the age of 9, and was later trained by legendary Dr Annavarapu Ramaswami, an accomplished Violinist. Sri Vasudevan is currently doing his PhD in Music from Mysore University after having his Masters done from Madras University. Sri Vasudevan was a disciple of by Dr Annavarapu Ramaswami.

This evening, beginning with a 'Jai Ganesh' offering in Rag Hansadhwani, Adi Tal, playing "Vatapi Ganapatim...", the duo went on for more than an hour playing "Endaro Mahanubhavulu...", a Thyagaraja composition in Rag Sree, Adi Tal. Playing "Raghuvamsa Sudhambuthi..." in Rag Kathanakuthuhalam, Adi Tal, the duo next played a scintilallating "Nagumomu Ganaleni..." in Rag Abheri, Adi Tal, involving an inciting Thillana before the final piece, a Sai Bhajan, "Manasa Bhajare...". Interestingly the duo concluded playing Asathoma Sadgamaya with three Omkars... well received by the appreciative audience. The duo was accompanied by Sarvasree  Mangalagiri Sridhar on Mridangam, KV Ramakrishna on Ghatam and Lakshmi Shankar on Morsingh.

The artistes along with accompanists were felicitated at the end of the programme.

Bhajans continued and the session concluded with Mangala Arathi at 1815 hrs.
