It may be recalled that the Trustees of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust had met the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy on the 31st March 2012, when they offered to extend the Anantapur Water Project, which was originally funded by the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust under Baba's direct guidance, to include an additional 118 habitations(Vide our Press Release No SSSCT/2012/43 dated 31st March 2012). Various aspects of the project had been considered in detail by the Board of Trustees along with the Technical Advisor at several meetings,before coming to a decision on the matter.
We are are pleased to announce that orders from the Government of Andhra Pradesh conveying their approval for the execution of this project have been received and the Trust has entrusted the work to M/s Larsen and Toubro, who had executed the previous project. Necessary contracts in this regard have been signed.The proposed extension would cover all habitations in the old Sathya Sai Taluk covering the three Mandals of Bukkapatnam, Kothacheruvu and Puttapparthi, enabling provision of clean drinking water to an additional 1 lakh people residing in these villages.
The project is estimated to cost Rs. 75 to 80 crores and will be funded completely by the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust.
It may be recalled that the Anantapur Water Project undertaken by Baba and funded by the Trust in 1994 covered 731 villages of the Anantapur District. This is running satisfactorily for the last 20 years.This was followed by other projects at Medak and Mahbubnagar (November 2000), Chennai (April 2002) and East and West Godavari (May 2006). All these were funded by the Sathya Sai Central Trust at a total cost in excess of Rs. 650 crores and then handed over to the respective Sate Governments for subsequent running and maintenance.
The Bhoomi Puja will be conducted at about 9 AM on the 24th January, 2013 at the Agricultural Market yard ,near MRO’s office, at Kothacheruvu,Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh.
