UGADI DAY CELEBRATIONS AT PRASANTHI NILAYAM – 2015 – DAY 1
The Ugadi Day celebrations at Sai Kulwant Hall commenced this morning with Veda chanting by the devotees from Hyderabad and introductory speeches in English and Telugu. The speakers recollected the years in which Swami would spend the week between Ugadi and Ramanavami in Sivam, Hyderabad unfailingly. On behalf of the 1500 devotees from Hyderabad, they expressed gratitude to Bhagawan for the opportunity to spend the Ugadi day of the 90th Year of Advent in the holy precincts of Prasanthi Nilayam.
This was followed by Panchanga Sravanam by Brahmasri Kuppa Siva Subramanya Avadhani Garu (Project Officer & Principal, TTD Veda Paathasaala, Tirumala). He meticulously read out to the audience, what one can expect in the Manmadha Nama Samvatsaram that was born today. Nevertheless, he concluded by quoting from the scriptures, a verse that clearly states, that the Navagrahas (nine planets) can do no harm to the one, who has won the grace (Anugraha) of the Lord.
Next to follow, was a talk in Telugu by Dr. K. S. Ratnakar, Chairman, Global Hospitals, Hyderabad. The learned speaker drawing messages from Bhagawan's writings and aptly aided by captivating stories gave the gathering a lot of food for thought and an insight into how Bhagawan expects us to lead our lives.
The programme concluded with a clip from an Ugadi discourse by Baba from a past year and Bhajans.
The evening programme in connection with Ugadi celebrations began with good tidings for all devotees as Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust launched an online accommodation booking facility for the convenience of visitors to Prasanthi Nilayam. Advance booking of rooms can now be done through the website www.prasanthinilayam.in.
The main programme of the evening was a musical presentation by singers Smt. Nitya Santoshini and Sri Nihal (Asthana Vidwan at Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham), both accomplished devotional and playback singers. The offering of songs spanned compositions in various languages – Shankarabharanamu in Telugu, Krishna nee begane baro in Kannada, and the Meera Bhajan Payoji Maine.. in Hindi. For the devotees who had gathered in Sai Kulwant Hall for the new year festivities, the atmosphere of spiritual fervour through music truly filled their hearts with joy.
Earlier, during the evening, representatives of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization, Hyderabad outlined the plethora of service activities being undertaken by devotees from Hyderabad. Sivam, Bhagawan’s Mandir in Hyderabad is the centre for a number of vocational and educational programmes aimed at supporting deserving but poor students in securing a means of living thus enabling them to find their feet in society. Mobile Medical Vans that extend medical care to villages in the districts of Mahaboobnagar, Nalgonda, and Medak of Telanagana state have now served more than 50,000 patients since the inception of the programme in 2011, they reported.
After the delightful musical rendition by Smt. Nitya Santoshini and Sri Nihal, the Trustees of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust honoured them in the Divine Presence of Bhagawan. The evening programme concluded with Bhajans and Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan and Prasadam was distributed to all the assembled devotees.
The Ugadi Day Celebrations at Sai Kulwant Hall will continue for the second day, on March 22, 2015, Sunday, in the morning with “ Veda pathanam” followed by, “ Sri Sathya Sai Gaanamrutham” by SIVAM Bhajan Group. All our readers are warmly welcome to enjoy the celebrations.
