International Yoga Day - at Prasanthi Nilayam
Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust has celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21 at Sri Sathya Sai Sathsangh Hall, Prasanthi Nilayam.
Sri G S R C V Prasada Rao, Secretary of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust addressed all the devotees on this occasion. In his inaugural talk, he mentioned that Yoga is far better than physical exercises and it helps devotees to connect with God.
Later a team of Yoga professionals lead by Prof Narayana Reddy gave the welcome talk and explained the benefits of Yoga in everyone’s Life.
Prof Sri Sivasankara Sai, Dean of Physics department recollected many incidents in which Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba has emphasized the importance of Yoga to one and all. He narrated incidents, in which, Baba himself acted as a Yoga master and took classes for a month in Dec 1968 at Brindavan, Whitefield, Bangalore.
Dr Praveena, Bio-science faculty at Sathya Sai Senior Secondary School spoke about physical, Medical and Spiritual benefits of doing Yoga.
Mr Satya Sai, Actuary from the University spoke about the importance of doing Suryanamaskara and its benefits to individuals and society as a whole.
An audio talk of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai baba on Yoga was played for everyone to understand the importance of Yoga.
There was a practical session of Suryanamaskar and simple yoga postures in which devotees actively participated. The program was attended by many devotees.
It has been proposed to conduct Yoga sessions for the Ashramites and the visiting devotees on regular basis, shortly.
