November 23, 2015

90th Birthday Week Long Celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba Varu - Day 6, Evening

"Global Sai Symphony"

Music relents to stop here in Prasanthi Nilayam. …And it dares to spread all over, crossing barriers whatsoever, resolute to unite the mankind. For the second successive session, the centre stage in the vast amphitheatre in Prasanthi Nilayam was converted into a Musical Workshop. The programme commenced in typical Indian style, with three Aumkars and lo! …it followed up with a special song resonating “Allaho Akbar”.

150 accomplished musicians from around the world, precisely from 16 countries, assembled this evening at the Sanctum Sanctorum to produce a unique offering at Bhagawan’s Lotus Feet, on the occasion commemorating the 90th year of His Supreme Advent.

The Composer, Michael Hurting, a ‘non-devotee’ earlier, accepted the challenge, owing to Bhagawan’s mysterious inspiration and thenceforth had made five extensive study-trips to India, assimilating the Sai Story in detail, from all possible sources, said Sri V Srinivasan, Trustee of Central Trust,  introducing the session.

The presentation entitled ‘Global Sai Symphony’ was a unique composition on the illustrious life of Bhagawan, consisting of 5 movements, each movement covering 16 years apiece. Composed by Michael Hurting from Cologne, Germany the Orchestra was conducted by Dr Michael Koehler from Leipzig, Germany.

The first movement was on His Advent followed by childhood life, depicting the uneven initial phase Little Sathya’s Life, when the world was still not ready to accept Him.

Opened with a unique old German church song “From Heaven High Is Where I Come”, the second movement sang on Bhagawan’s Gospel to the mankind.

Titled Ecstasy and Glory, the third movement was on many of Bhagawan’s wonderful service monuments for humanity at large.

If He has come for the entire mankind, this unity in diversity has to be reflected, even in this unique show. Sending out this strong message of Bhagawan that, His Advent is for all mankind, and more, the fourth and penultimate movement ensured a friendly percussion between Indian and African artistes, involving Karaikudi Mani, Suresh Vaidyanathan, Amrit and Pape Samory Seck,  sharing the joy of unison via music. It turned out to be an enticing friendly dual, Jugalbandhi of twin musical cultures.

Coming to the finale, the fifth and final movement captured the core of Bhagawan’s teachings, Love All Serve All. After a beautiful Western Classical rendition by the strings section and the Choir, a Saxophone solo then set the tone for the virtuoso finale in which the entire Orchestra along with the soloists joined in a glorious resound of His message: LOVE ALL SERVE ALL, HELP EVER HURT NEVER.

The Indian classical side was led by Mridangam exponent Guru Karaikudi Mani, along with Ganesh and Kumaresh on Violin, Mandolin Rajesh, Suresh Vaidyanathan on Ghatam, Shashank Subramanyam on Flute, Dr Pt Debashish Battacharya on Lap Side Guitar, Amrit and Sai Shravanam, Anjana Rajagopalan, with an evergreen Sudha Radhunathan in lead Vocal. HeinerWiberny from Germany, Pape Samory Seck from Senegal and Cheikkh Lehbladh from Mauritania joined the Indian contingent. A band of Sathya Sai students, both boys and girls, were also part of the Symphony.

East can meet the West and the world can come together singing His glory and Oneness. Prasanthi Nilayam stands testimony to this truth. Unique, the offering turned out to be a Musical Walk-Thru on the Appearance Day Twilight at the Supreme Abode of Peace, Sri Sathya Sai Prasanthi Nilayam.

Prasanthi Nilayam reverberates and resonates with every beat, the language of Peace and Unity… of Oneness… of “Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu” resolved to transform the world into “Saidaiva Kutumbakam”.

The Era of Sathya Sai is never ending and the Sathya of Sathya Sai Will Ever Prevail.
