A glorious opportunity of rendering our prayers was blessed, in the form of Sai Panchamritha Kritis by the Carnatic Singers drawn from Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra numbering to 265 at HIS Lotus feet of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba at Sai Kulwant Hall on the occasion of Sri Sathya Sai Aradhana Mahotsavam. During the programme that commenced after Veda Chanting at 8.00 a.m., a bouquet of five devotional songs composed in Carnatic style by Dr Vasanthalakshmi of Sri Sathya Sai Mirpuri College and set to music by noted musician Sri Rajkumar Bharathi, great-grandson of the famous poet and freedom fighter Subrahmanya Bharathiar, were sung in His adoration. This is the second successive year that the Sai Panchamritha Kritis have been performed in the Precincts of Maha Sannidhi on this Aradhana Mahotsavam day.
From ancient times, music in India not only had a strong spiritual tradition but has also been regarded as one of the great vehicles of Bhakti, with God worshipped as Nada Brahmam, while the bhakta or devotee engages in nadopasaana or seeks to merge with the Lord via musical adoration. In a Discourse delivered in 1996, Swami said that God loves music (which is why He is called Nada Brahmam) and that an easy way to find liberation is for the bhakta to sing his/her way into the Lord’s Heart.
The word ‘Pancharatna’ means the adornment of 5 diamonds, and it is indeed the great fortune of all the performing artists to render HIS glory in this sacred form at the Divine Abod. The performance was live cast by Radio Sai all over the world. The artists who sang in harmony and unison rendered a flawless, soulful and scintillating performance.
After the rendition of the Sai Panchamritha Kritis, there was a talk given by Sri S S Naganand, Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust. He reminisced on those days when Bhagawan would hold our hands in our times of difficulties, and also celebrate joyous occasions with us. He said that Bhagawan ensures that wherever we are, whatever we do, we still remember Him and His Presence in our lives. He also announced to the audience that in pursuance of Bhagawan’s constant exhortations that our lives must be spent in service of mankind, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust is proceeding with the Annadanam project that is to commence during the Gurupurnima of this year. A new building where free food will be offered to devotees who attend the activities in the Mandir, is already being constructed.
This was followed by a very inspiring speech by Sri Nimish Pandya, All India President, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organizations. He presented the progress on the Sri Sathya Sai Vidyajyothi programme, which within a short span of under a year has already adopted 672 schools benefiting more than 139,000 students while training more than 6500 teachers in Human Values Education. He said that nearly 4000 volunteers of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organizations have been blessed to be part of this project, which will grow by leaps and bounds by His Grace in this ensuing year. The images of the work done in these schools that ranged from Bal Vikas classes for the students to improving infrastructure, and even cleaning toilets left everyone in the audience moved at the wondrous tasks that happen with the Grace of Bhagawan.
The Divine Discourse by Bhagawan Baba aired through Public Address System touched mainly on the attitude that one must have while engaging in service of one’s fellowmen. One must shun exhibition and ostentation and set aside one’s ego while on the path of Service, Bhagawan said. The Discourse was followed by Bhajans and Arati marked the end of proceedings at Kulwanth hall this morning. Prasadam was distributed to the entire assemblage at Kulwanth hall.
Maha Narayana Seva and Vasthra Seva have been conducted Sri Sathya Sai Hill View Stadium commencing at 1030 AM.
Sri Sathya Sai Lunch Prasadam to all devotees was distributed at the specially set up counters behind North blocks from 11 00 AM.
It is our prayer that in the years to come the marvelous rendition of Pancharatna Krithis to Bhagawan on 24th April, would draw more and more Carnatic professionals to the abode of SAI.
We pray to Swami for HIS Love and Grace.
