Chinese New Year Celebrations-Day 2

The second day of the three-day Chinese New year celebrations at Prasanthi Nilayam  commenced in Sai Kulwant hall this afternoon with an address by Brother V K Ravindran, Chairman of Zone 4 of Sri Sathya Sai International Organization in which he reiterated the theme of the festivities – Love and Selfless Service. He characterized the New Year as the year of peace and tranquility as per Chinese tradition. He also outlined various service projects being taken up by Sathya Sai devotees in various areas in the Far-East.

The congregation of devotees broke into loud applause when he delivered the thrilling news that the Indonesian Government has now incorporated human values into the mainstream school curriculum on the model of Sri Sathya Sai Educare after gaining a deep appreciation for the system of education established by Swami.

His talk was followed by a speech by Justice (Mrs.) Isabella Chung, who holds the position of a judge in Hong Kong. Her devotion and love for Bhagawan was as evident as she narrated her journey to Swami and how HE had guided her in her quick rise from being a lawyer to serving as an important member of the Hong Kong Judiciary system. She said that she always abided by Swami’s injunctions that one must never distinguish between Swami’s work and one’s profession and that one’s duties must be performed as an offering of Love to Bhagawan. Making Swami happy is the only way to one’s own happiness Justice Chung said,  in her closing remarks.

After the talk, it was the chance of the students of Nanyang Zhi Hui School of Medang, Indonesia to take over the floor with a beautiful dance performance entitled “Dances of Joy”. The fusion of traditional Chinese vestments and modern music theme made for an intriguing close to the celebrations for the day.

The programme concluded with Bhajans by Chinese devotees and Mangala Arati to Bhagawan.
