RAMA NAVAMI CELEBRATIONS AT PRASANTHI NILAYAM

Eons ago, in the Treta Yuga, on an auspicious ninth day of the growing moon in the month of Chitra, the Supreme Lord embodied in physical frame as Sri Ramachandra. Sri Rama has been the most exemplary human face on planet earth Whose adherence to values, to Truth, to Righteousness formed the essence of Bharat's treasured epic 'Ramayana'.

Avatar of Eternity, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai, Who coined His Name Sai with Ram, to form the most endearing one-word Mantra, “SaiRam” has always been extolling Sri Rama’s glory, teaching erring humanity to tread the path of Truth and Righteousness. Sri Rama Navami marks the annual commemoration of the Advent of the Lord of Treta.

Today is the holy day of Sri Rama Navami. Celebrating the grandeur of the occasion, the celestial wedding of Sita-Ramachandra, Sita Rama Kalyanam was organised in the immediate Divine OmniPresence this morning in Prasanthi Nilayam.

Commenced at 0830 hrs. the special function went on for over 100 minutes, studded with elaborate rituals. Rituals that ensued included various offerings to the Divine Couple, Upanayanam – the sacred thread ceremony of the bridegroom followed by Kanyadanam (giving away the bride) interspersed with Laghu Arathi. Amidst floral offerings and to the backdrop Nadaswaram music, the Divine Marriage was conducted shortly after 1010 hrs. marked by the tying of Mangala Sutra.  Laja Homa was then conducted, offering oblations to the sacred fire. Kumbha Harathi, Nakshatra Harathi, Karpoora Harathi followed next marking the grand-finale of the Celestial Wedding.

Bhagawan's Divine Discourse next, aired on the public address system, turned out to be an absorbing thesis on the supreme significance of Rama Principle. Pleasure and pain are inseparable in human life, reminded Bhagawan, highlighting the Rama example of embracing both with great equipoise.

Bhajans next was followed by Mangala Arathi offering to Bhagawan marking the end of the morning session.
