Maratha’s Vittala devotional fervor is back in Prasanthi Nilayam. The auspicious eleventh lunar day of the Hindu month of Ashada – Ashadi Ekadashi – is tomorrow. On the eve of the auspicious day, commencing the two day celebrations devotees from Maharashtra and Goa presented cultural programmes at the Sanctum Sanctorum here in Prasanthi Nilayam today.
In the morning, the programme commenced at 0800 hrs. with Veda chanting by the Maharashtra & Goa troupe followed by a musical rendition by Kum Priyal Sathe, a classical vocalist and an alumnus of Sri Sathya Sai Balvikas.
A disciple of Pt Mohan Karve, Arthi Ankalikar and Pt Sharad Sathe, Kum Piyal is currently pursuing her doctoral degree from Pune University. This morning she was accompanied with Tabla, Harmonium, Pakhwaj and Thalam by Sarvasree Rohit Majumdar, Rohit Marathe, Vineet and Prasanth.
With a mix of classical, semi-classical, abhangs and bhajans Priyal regaled the audience for an hour serenading The Lord on the auspicious eve.
