BURRA KATHA BY STUDENTS OF SSSIHL IN PRASANTHI NILAYAM
Presenting the first programme for the academic year 2014-15, postgraduate students from Sri Sathya Sai Institute Of Higher Learning, Prasanthi Nilayam Campus (SSSIHL) presented a 'Burra Katha' on the theme "Smt. Easwaramma - The Mother Who Gave The World The Living God" this evening here at Prasanthi Nilayam.
Burra Katha is a story-telling technique, a folklore art of Andhra Pradesh. It was in 2003, that Baba revived this otherwise decaying art form blessing and guiding and encouraging his students with opportunities to present them at the Kulwant Hall in his immediate presence.
Continuing the tradition, the theme for the evening was on the illustrious life of Mother Easwaramma. Hailing the Mother's advent a 'Karana Janmam', incarnated for a special purpose, the story-line for the evening had the sum and substance of the most blessed life of the most illustrious mother ever. Touching upon various events preceding to the Advent Of The Supreme Divine the narration went on with stories galore, including that involving Bhagawan's foster mother Karnam Subbamma. The presentation helped to highlight the rare spakes of the exemplary life of the 'compassionate mother' that brought succour to many suffering souls.
With a mix of apt and beautiful renderings coupled with narrations full of Truth and Wisdom, spiced up with brilliant touch of humour, the programme lasted an hour and more and ended with a chanting of 'Easwaramma Gayathri'. The trio, who are into their maiden Burra Katha venture, and group were greeted with continuous round of applause in appreciation.
