Inauguration of New CT Scan System at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences
A new 128-slice Computed Tomography (CT) scan system was inaugurated at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences (SSSIHMS), Prasanthigram by Sri K Chakravarthy and Sri R J Rathnakar, the Members of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust. Sri G S R C V Prasada Rao, the Secretary of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust and Dr Choudary D Voleti, Director of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigrm and other dignitaries of the hospital were present on the occasion.
The high-end CT scan system comes with a GemStone Imaging (GSI) system. The GSI is a unique technology that enables doctors to identify the chemical composition of body materials such as kidney stones. Further, a scan image can be generated for patients, who have a metal implant in their bodies, with clarity.
This CT scan system also provides the best resolution for cardiac scans. Images can also be produced for bodily structures as small as 0.625 mm and therefore this scanner is a great tool for imaging minute blood vessels. An added feature of the CT scanner is that it performs scans at a high speed due to which scans could be completed within a time period of 10 seconds.
Speaking at the Inauguration of the new CT Scan system, Dr Choudary D Voleti, Director of SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, said that the new CT Scanner was a boon or the patients, as it brought together several high-end technologies within the reach of the patients. He added that very few hospitals in the country had such high-end CT Scanners installed in their hospitals.
The Head of Department, Radiology, SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, Dr C K Reddy said that he was thrilled that with Bhagawan Baba’s Grace such high-end equipment has been made available to the poorest of the poor, who visit the hospital and experience a cost-free treatment, when compared to any other Hospital.
